Laser in an acronym for the words Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser is located in a narrow spectral band of visible and infrared radiation, bracketed by other electromagnetic radiation with well-established therapeutic benefits. Laser is one of the most modern forms of therapy. It is becoming the first line of attack in controlling addictions, weight, stress and pain.
The therapeutic benefits of light on the body have been documented since the earliest of times. The ancient Egyptians who build special rooms in which to take light baths practiced light therapy. The earliest physician to practice light therapy was Hippocrates around 440 B.C. He practiced heliotherapy, where the sick were treated with sunlight in a clinic with a roofless gallery facing the south. These treatments were administered for their soothing effects on wounds and compound fractures.
The discovery of laser in 1960 opened up new prospects for the medical use of light. Laser now provides the technician with optically pure sources of light capable of producing specific photochemical reactions. Professor Endre Mester, the father of laser therapy in Budapest, Hungary, carried out the earliest work of the biostimulatory effects of low power laser in 1965. Mester performed numerous studies on collagen synthesis and wound healing with significant results. Since 1971 several hundred papers have been published in well over a dozen countries dealing with the physiological effects of low power laser. In North America, significant scientific research on laser therapy has been in progress since 1980. Low power laser has now emerged as a popular adjunct therapy for the treatment of a variety of conditions.
In Canada (1973) Dr. Freidrich Plog began to investigate laser treatments as a potential alternative to metal needles for acupuncture treatments. Research projects over the next decade, mainly in Eastern Europe, China and the Soviet Union found laser therapy as a popular modality to replace the former invasive treatments.
Since 1985 the practitioners at the Matrix Institute have worked diligently to develop complete programs to control addictions, relieve pain, control weight, manage stress and so much more. After twenty three years of use low power lasers have been found not to have any adverse side effects. Laser sessions are a non-invasive form of therapy with rapid results.

Training relies on an understanding of the construction of laser devices and safety regulations.
Description and instruction of proper stimulation with low level laser to trigger the brain to produce natural opiates to overcome withdrawal and cravings in areas of addiction. In other programs low level laser is used to regulate internal body organs, thus modifying their function and enabling clinicians to effectively treat pain, functional disorders, addictive problems and minor psychiatric disorders.
Matrix Behavior Program is used in each system to enhance the overall success of clients and to assure a smooth, safe and effective transformation to a healthier lifestyle is achieved.
Nutritional Support is an important facet in all programs as it rids the body of toxins and assists the body in recovery.
